I just got back into town and I had the most wonderful time. I have a friend who is a member of the 501st and through his connections, he got it setup so that I was able to go to the Weird AL Concert in Davenport, IA and meet Weird AL, and go on stage with AL also. it was incredible. We left Sunday before lunch and drove across the state of Iowa. I think we stopped once for food, but the rest of the time we amused ourselves talking about Transformers and other cool movies. Then when we arrived it all seems to blur together. There was waiting involved, but the time spent waiting was all filled with fun so it flew right past. I had only just arrived and I got to go down and meet AL, and get my picture taken with him. I completely forgot about the possibility of getting something signed, so I didn’t have any AL merchandise with me. Got to eat the catered food with Jim West and Steve Jay and then I went up to our dressing room, yes… they gave us our own dressing room, and tried on my outfit. It was a little snug in places, but overall it fit pretty well, considering it was a borrowed costume. The boots and helmet fit perfect though. Then after a short wait we went out on stage and got to dance behind AL while he sang “The Saga Begins”. It is a memory I will cherish for a very long time. I can’t believe that it just happened.

my friend Erica and former roommate showed me her charging station several months ago and ever since I’ve wanted to create my own. I looked online for several different ideas. I also looked at what it would cost to buy one. I decided making my own was by far the better choice. I picked up a breadbox for $5 at Goodwill.
Nothing terribly fancy but it does the job. I then took it out to the garage and drilled several holes that I had marked for size. After filing the holes to get rid of any rough edges I painted it white. I have white bookshelves and I think that it matches pretty well. Then I put some grippy drawer liner on the top to keep my devices safe and from slipping around on the top. I just used adhesive spray to stick it down. After all that dried I took it in and put in my power strip and ran the cords for the devices. I decided to tie up the cables to help keep heat down as best as possible, and called it good.

After messing about with my stereo some more I found that I wanted to put a non slip pad in the bottom of a cubby on my dash. So I unplugged the iPod cable from the radio and took the cubby away for some adhesive spray and non-slip thingie application. I took it back to the vehicle, plugged everything back in and hey presto, now my iPod works great. It’s a 4th Gen and I’ve heard that 5th Gen iPods work better with the Aline head units, but so far I’m having lots of fun controlling mine from the head unit. Much better than trying to scroll through a list. Now I can search for it, and scroll, search, and scroll some more. Ok, so it’s the same thing, but I don’t have to have my eyes off the road for long this way. Or something.

After upgrading the stereo system in my car, I discovered that my iPod won’t come on without giving me an error. I’m currently trying to figure out if I can diagnose it and maybe correct the problem. If I can get it working, I can use my new iPod cable to interface directly with my deck. Crossing my fingers…

Update: Well I went searching for ways to take the case off carefully, and I found a site with step by step instructions. I should have read down through all 860+ comments first, because several times people mentioned beating on the side of the ipod to get it to come back. What did it was switching the hold switch on and off about 10 times in rapid succession and several sharp raps on the side of it with my hand. Bang, just like that it is working again. Too weird…

So, I finished Deathly Hallows a week ago and never got around to posting about it. It’s a very good read and I’m looking for more. I’m sad that there won’t be another Harry Potter book unless someone else writes it. Maybe I’ll start reading Harry Potter fanfics.

Just got back from watching the 8PM showing of Transformers. I don’t want to give anything away, but I do want to say go see it! I loved it and the theatre loved it. Standing ovation at the end. Just a wonderful experience, wonderful effects. Completely did the series justice. Ok, so if you haven’t been listening so far…. What are you waiting for?? go get your ticket!

You have probably heard of the Six Degrees of Separation. You might have even heard about The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. What you probably haven’t heard of is that he’s taking advantage of his celebrity and the fact that many people are looking him and other celebrities up on the web. He has a website called Network For Good and I think it’s a wonderful idea. Since I have a nevus (birthmark) and I’m also very famous ( haha) I decided to put a badge on my site for my favorite charity, the Nevus Outreach. A few people have already donated and I think that’s so wonderful! I don’t know who you are, but thank you very much.

If you’re looking for something fun to do tomorrow, head on over to La Vista. There is a parade I’ll be in. I’m going to be walking with the Omaha Rollergirls. Hope to see you there!

Update: The parade was delayed on account of Rain. Just after we finished the parade route, it began to rain again. I love Nebraska.
